Our life in the Pyrenees

We are Lauren, Rob and Carol

Pyrenees Holiday Gites

We enjoy skiing, outdoor life and being together as a family.

Summer is now here and we've been enjoying some fabulous weather. The mountains are a lush green, so it's time to dust off the walking boots, pump the tyres up on our bikes and get out and enjoy the glorious Pyrenees.

Living here in the Pyrenees we can achieve the three things that are important to us. The Pyrenees are a truly beautiful place to live; the weather allows us to be outdoors most of the time; the skiing is fantastic and almost on our doorstep; and best of all we are together.

We were fed up with the "ratrace", having no time for ourselves, doing jobs we hated and trying to make ends meet. The only thing to do was to get out, and for us, there is no going back.

We began our search in northern Spain, but turned down the opportunity to own an almond ranch after falling for the year-round beauty of the French Pyrenees. We stumbled across the idyllic village of Ore, and in particular a house and barn built in 1841, that we call LAROCA, and our home.

We have integrated into the French way of life perfectly. Our daughter, Lauren now attends college (secondary school) and along with being fluent in French, is now studying Spanish too. We sit on the summer fete committee, and have great friends and neighbours.
